Africa World Airlines (AWA), an indigenous airline, is set to operate a direct flight between Accra and London.
The airline is also planning to operate a direct flight between Accra and the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, Togbe Afede XIV, the Co-Chairman of the AWA stated at the launch of AWA’s maiden service between Accra and Monrovia.
Togbe Afede who is also the President of the National House of Chief, said the airline would soon take delivery of three Boeing 767 aircraft to support its expansion drive.
“Subsequently we look forward to receiving three Boeing 767 that will enable us to connect Africa to London, New York, Sao Paulo, and Istanbul etc.
“We have come to stay and we want to partner with Liberia," he said.
He emphasised that no development could take place except in an atmosphere of peace, adding that peace in Liberia would mean peace in Ghana.
"Peace in Liberia will mean for AWA to expand. We hope that everything goes on peacefully for the betterment of our sub region,” he added.
