The absence of electricity in the Nasuan community in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District in the Northern Region has created huge market opportunity for the youth, who have resorted to the use of generators to charge mobile phones.

The dealers in the small scale enterprises make between GH?30.00 to GH?80.00 per day due to the demand for the usage of mobile phones.

Ibrahim Janbedoo, a mobile phone charger who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, said he makes between GH?80.00 to GH?100.00 per day.

Ibrahim Salifu, another mobile phone charger said he could charge between 30 to 40 phones per day.

Mr Adjei Yajim Iddrisu, a teacher in the community, said he spent about GH?14.00 per month in charging his mobile phone and appealed to the Government to extend electricity to the area.

In a related development, the chiefs, opinion leaders and youth of the Yunyoo Traditional Area, a predominantly farming community in the district, have appealed to the Government to create a new constituency for the area to ensure speedy development.

The appeal was made at a press conference at Nasuan on Saturday addressed by the Chief of Nasuan, Nasuan Daan Ubor Daniel Ewollibe Wajack and Matungmah Matthew, Leader of the Youth Group.

Daan Ubor Wajack, said the Yunyoo Traditional Area covers about 60 percent of the district with an estimated 70,000 people and 51 polling stations with a voting population of 17, 000.**
