Accra bourse Index makes slight recovery

Accra, Feb. 2, GNA - The GSE-Composite Index (GSE-CI), the benchmark measure of performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange, made a slight recovery on Wednesday, inching up 1.59 points to close at 1,051.25 points from 1,049.66 points. The year-to-date now stands at 5.12 per cent.

The GSE-Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI), which tracks the performance of listed financial stocks, also rose 1.79 points to 1,044.75 points from 1,042.96 points with a year-to-date change of 4.47 per cent. There were five price changes, three gainers and two decliners. Standard Chartered Bank gained GH¢0.74 to GH¢46.50, Benso Oil Palm Plantation was better GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.81 and Fan Milk Limited added GH= ¢0.01 at GH¢2.51.

Laggards for the session were SG-SSB Bank down GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.72 and Enterprise Group Limited fell GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.49. Market Capitalization closed the session marginally higher at GH¢20,295.61 million from GH¢20,287.79 million at the previous close. A total of 645,134 shares were traded, valued at 344,537.60 cedis compared to more than 2.2 million shares worth GH¢342,657.36 cedis on Tuesday.
