Accra bourse continues remarkable performance

Accra, April 19, GNA - The GSE-All Share Index, the key stock measure, rallied 100.47 points as the bourse continued its remarkable run in mid-week trading on Wednesday.

The index ended 6,390.87 points compared to 6,290.4 points at the previous close on Monday buoyed by high investor confidence in the shares of the banking stocks.

Change for year was also up at 79.85 per cent.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) made a huge gain of 7,900 cedis to push its price to 86,900 cedis, Trust Bank Limited went up 1,999 cedis at 22,000 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank was richer by 200 cedis at 17,300 cedis and Societe General-SSB Bank was two cedis higher at 29,502 cedis. Other equities that saw positive price changes were Mechanical Lloyd Company (MLC), which made 50 cedis at 3,050 cedis; Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) had 50 cedis at 17,300 cedis; CFAO was up one cedi at 86 cedis; Cocoa Processing Company appreciated by nine cedis at 1,470 cedis and Fan Milk gained 500 cedis at 6,500 cedis.

Guinness Ghana Limited rose 10 cedis at 10,210 cedis, Home Finance Company made nine cedis at 9,510 cedis, Mobil Oil Ghana Limited went up one cedi at 37,551 cedis and Unilever gained five cedis at 19,605 cedis. Shares that changed hands rose dramatically to 1.6 million shares from 116,500 on the back of huge sales in CPC shares, which alone sold a little over 1.5 million shares.

Market Capitalisation went up to 19,838.96 billion cedis compared to 19,584.32 billion cedis on Monday.
