Accra picks again up on EIC gain

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA - Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) again pushed the Ghana Stock Exchange up on Tuesday with a 100-cedi gain as the bourse struggles to lift itself from negative zone.

EIC, which has risen consistently despite the bearish sentiments on the bourse, ended its impressive run at 700 cedis on Tuesday. The GSE-All Share Index, the benchmark measure, climbed by 0.81 points to close at 4,888.56 points from 4,887.75 points. Change for the year-to-date went up to -28.09 per cent from -28.11 per cent.

Traded shares reduced to 161,200 from 641,700 shares on Monday. Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, another equity that has sustained the bearish pressures, also gained 10 cedis at 7,510 cedis. Market capitalisation ended up at 92,176.69 billion cedis from 92,172.49 billion cedis.
