Acting Director General of GPHA pays maiden visit to GDLC

The Acting Director General of GPHA, Michael Luguje also paid a familiarization visit to the Ghana Dock Labor Company, in Tema.

According to the General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Esther Gyebi-Donkor, the Acting Director General acknowledged the critical role the Dock Labor Company plays in contributing to the labor force that drive the Port business and deemed it worthy of visiting them.

Michael Luguje officially introduced himself, and interacted with GDLC’s officials.

He said, he would enforce an open door policy, where partnership with stakeholders would be focal in driving the port industry forward.

''I am just coming in to be able to join and together we will make sure that we will maintain the level and then keep steadily rising as we move forward. And I am ready to do that with a very open door policy to deal with every stakeholder as openly as possible,'' he said.

Michael Luguje urged the Company on, in their pursuit of innovation in order to match requirements of the industry.

''You have managed quite well and I want to commend you for that. And I am happy you are innovating- you have the business development department now,'' he remarked.

The Managing Director of GDLC appreciated the recognition the Acting DG of GPHA has given them. He appealed to the new DG to assist in alleviating recent challenges they are confronted with especially with the delayed payments of wages from stakeholders who they offer labor to.

''We have over two million cedis sitting with customers, some of them who have left, some are in the system and it becomes very difficult for us to collect those monies. So that is one area that we would like the Authority to help us,'' he requested.
