Adamus Resources Limited: Lands Ministry calls for calm and restraint

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has issued a call for calm and restraint amidst escalating tensions involving Adamus Resources Limited, a mining company operating in the Western Region of Ghana.

The appeal comes in response to recent disputes over the company's management, particularly regarding the Interim Management Committee (IMC) established by the Accra High Court of Justice (Commercial Division 7) on July 27, 2023. The IMC has faced obstacles in carrying out its duties.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the IMC was blocked by the company's security personnel and police officers at the main entrance of Adamus Resources Limited's operational headquarters in the Ellembelle District. This prevented the committee from entering the premises to familiarize themselves with the company's operations and engage with the workers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 27, the Ministry stressed the importance of peaceful dialogue and negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflicts.

It also urged all parties involved to refrain from actions that could escalate the situation and endanger the safety and well-being of the affected communities.

The Ministry clarified that the government is not taking sides in the legal dispute and emphasized the need to respect the judicial process and allow the courts to peacefully resolve the issue.

In its plea for calm and restraint, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that mining activities in Ghana comply with legal and ethical standards. It called on all stakeholders to collaborate in finding a solution that promotes peace and stability in the region.

"The Ministry has confidence in the courts of our country to address all the issues at hand. The Ministry will, however, take necessary steps to engage the parties in an attempt to reach an amicable resolution," an excerpt of the statement read.

"In the meantime, the Ministry urges all parties to refrain from addressing the matter in the media or taking actions that could prejudice the fair adjudication of the issues in court. The Ministry also advises the parties to avoid actions that may disrupt the smooth operation of the Company until the matters before the Court are resolved," the statement concluded.
