The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Bank, Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor, has urged Africans and Ghanaians in particular to adopt ‘problem solving’ or ‘solution minded’ attitudes to help achieve results.
He said efforts geared towards identifying solutions often opened up opportunities and urged everyone to embrace a problem-solving attitude.
“Let’s try and look for solutions wherever we are though they don’t come easy. Let your name be mentioned in the corridors of progress and development. We should have the solution mindset,” Rev. Odonkor said at a conference dubbed; “Possibilities.”
The conference brought together graduates and undergraduates among others to prepare themselves for the many opportunities to come their way.
“Whenever there are challenges we should be prepared to step up and accept the challenge. Most at times we hide from challenges, but it is by stepping up to challenges and problems that you can acquire critical problem-solving skills for the future,” he said.
Rev. Odonkor said it was important for students to be open-minded and not limit themselves to the courses they studied in school since the essence of education was to broaden people’s horizon to make them adapt to various situations.
He said: “The fact that you studied Biology does not mean you will become a Biologist, what you must do is to embrace opportunities.
“The Bible tells us that we should redeem the time. That word ‘chance’ the Bible talks about is an opportunity. There are opportunities around us but how many of us will take advantage of them?”
The Capital Bank’s CEO also touched on discipline, saying, people must be disciplined in whatever they find themselves doing since it brought positive returns.
“For me, discipline has been the major pillar of my success. You must become aware of how precious time is. Every moment is valuable. If you are not disciplined and you start your own work you will be more undisciplined,” he said.
