Kodie (Ash), Dec. 27, GNA - The new Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly has said its dependence on the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and Internally Generated Fund (IGF) would not help it to acquire accommodation for its office staff and to attract investors to the district. It has, therefore, decided to access a loan facility from the HFC which the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and Environment would guarantee for it to undertake some projects for the rapid development of the district.
The decision was unanimously taken at a Third Ordinary Assembly meeting held at Kodie, the district capital, on Friday. Addressing the assembly Mr. Kwasi Karikari Achamfour, the District Chief Executive, said the idea of accessing the loan was in the right direction because new districts were entitled to it. He said the assembly had received its share of the DACF which amounted to 296.817.00 cedis and a refund from the Sekyere South District was 63,080.00 bringing the total to 359,817.08 Ghana cedis. He said out of the amount, 257,398.89 Ghana cedis was deducted at source from the DACF Administrator to cover the National Youth Employment Programme, Fumigation, Waste Management, Rural Electrification poles, NALAG dues and Prefos Company. Mr Achamfour complained about over deduction of 30,000 Ghana cedis credited to Prefos and said the assembly had no dealing with the company for which deduction was due.
He said the assembly had embarked on some projects which included the construction of a block of three classrooms at Adwumakaase-Kese and the rehabilitation of rented premises to house the Directorate of Health and the Department of Agriculture at Boamang. Other outstanding works include the completion of a block of six classrooms at Kwamang and the rehabilitation works on an Area Council building at Boamang. He said the Boamang/Tetrem road had been re-awarded to another company.
