Agricare installs Feed Mill plant in Kumasi

Kumasi, June 15, GNA- Agricare Company limited has installed a 24 billion cedi Feed Mill plant at Tanoso near Kumasi. Mr. Seth Bekoe Apeadu, Managing Director of the Company, who announced this, said the plant had been tested and was in full operation.

He was speaking at a day's seminar for distributors and stakeholders in the poultry, livestock and feed mill industry from all the regions in Kumasi on Friday.

The over 100 participants were also taken through the re-denomination of the Cedi and the Avian Influenza or Bird Flu at the seminar organized by Agricare.

He hinted that Agricare, in collaboration with the Water Research and Animal Research Institute, would soon introduce good quality and affordable fish feed in the aqua-culture sub-sector of the industry. Mr. Apeadu called on all stakeholders of the industry to remain committed and contribute towards proper farm management practices in their small ways.

These include preparation and handling of feed and feed inputs, hygiene at the farm, bio-security, vaccination requirements and other animal husbandry practices. "Let us all continue to engage in healthy discussions on matters that relate to sustainability and growth of our industry, especially in the areas of specialization and forging of co-operation among ourselves. This, I believe will help all spheres of the industry grow together for the general good of our dear nation, Ghana", he added.

Touching on Avian Influenza, he called on the participants to deepen their knowledge in the relevant areas such as the nature of the disease, preventive measures, steps to be taken in the event of any suspicious development and how to avoid possible spread of the outbreak from one concentration area to other places.

Mr. Appiah Darkwa, Bank of Ghana Official in Kumasi said the fact that Ghana has been given the chance to re-denominate its currency was an indication that its economic independence and activities were good. He pointed out that many countries, including Zimbabwe and Brazil tried it but the end results were disastrous.

He said the changeover which comes into operation on July 3 and the old currency would not be acceptable after December but people would have the option to change it at any of the banks and any loan and savings company.

Mr. Darkwah said the Bank of Ghana has embarked on a project whereby people can cash their monies with any bank through the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
