Airtel Ghana supports scheme to empower women in Lekpongunor

Airtel, Ghana’s fastest growing Telecommunications Network continues to support individuals and institutions as part of its 12 Days of Giving initiative.

The Changemaker company made a donation to Reverend Divine Galley, a Minister of the Gospel in Prampram who is commencing a micro-finance scheme to support women in Old Ningo, Prampram engaged in fish mongering.

Making the presentation, Lucy Quist, Managing Director of Airtel Ghana stated, “At Airtel, supporting and investing in causes that empower people is core to our CSR strategy. We believe that every individual has the power to realise their full potential, often times, with a little support. We were touched by Reverend Galley’s story and how he is leading the change to ensure children in the Lekpongunor community in Ningo Prampram are back to school and empowering their mothers to cater for their families. This is truly remarkable and we are happy to support this initiative”.

She continued “Sometimes, it is the little things we all do that makes the most difference and we look forward to the ripple effect that our support will make in the lives of these beneficiaries. Reverend Galley’s outreach initiative is a typical example of what we mean when we say Make Your Change.”

“Throughout December, our 12 Days of Giving has touched, supported and brought smiles to the faces of many beneficiary organisations and individuals across the country. We will continue to support causes that make a difference in the lives of Ghanaians”. She concluded.

Reverend Divine Galley thanked Airtel Ghana for the kind gesture. He said “We are grateful to Airtel Ghana for supporting us to change the lives of people within the Lekpongunor community. This kind gesture will make a big difference in the lives of the children we support in school and their mothers”.

Some Airtel employees also joined the children and caretakers of the Osudoku Global Orphanage in Osuwem near Asutsuare to spread the joy of the season and presented food items, mattresses and a water reservoir to aid the home conserve water in times of shortage.

Airtel Ghana has supported 12 institutions and individuals through its 12 Days of Giving initiative to spread the joy of the season this Christmas period.

The company has won several awards in CSR for its impactful and strategic CSR initiatives which cuts across education, health, community and sports.
