Employees of Airtel Ghana in collaboration with the Centre for Pregnancy and Childbirth Education (CePaCE), a non-governmental organization has embarked on an initiative dubbed “New-Born Arrival Pack” distribution project to benefit over 120 new mothers in the Ashaiman community and its environs as part of the company’s employee-led initiative – Make your Change.
The initiative involves an initial donation of baby care products and an Airtel starter pack that connects the beneficiary mothers to CePaCE for ongoing information sharing and education on post-natal care for the new born babies and their mothers to improve maternal health and reduce child mortality.
CePaCE is a non-governmental organization that focuses on reducing child mortality and improving maternal health education, with women and children enabled to realize their right to the highest attainable standard of health.
Hannah Agbozo, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director-Airtel Ghana, in a statement expressed the company’s commitment to supporting health-related initiatives in communities especially those led by employees.
“Our employees leading worthy causes in their local communities to inspire change in different ways is something that the company is passionate to invest. As a responsible corporate entity, we believe that it is in the right direction if we support issues related to maternal and child health education in the society”.
The Executive Director of CePaCE, Ms. Eleanora P. Baffour Agyei commented, “CePaCE is very excited about this project because of the impact it will make in the lives of beneficiaries. The project targets people who truly need this intervention and we were amazed at how the beneficiary mothers welcomed it. Airtel Ghana indeed has made a difference and put smiles on the faces of these mothers. We are very grateful to the company and its employees. We pray that the company continues to grow so it can touch more lives”.
Make Your Change initiative is part of Airtel Ghana’s Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives – providing a platform for employees to identify challenges in their communities and to bring such projects forward to be vetted and funded by the company. It was built on the company’s strong determination to make a change in communities in which it operates.
Initiatives such as this partnership with CePaCE are one of the many activities that have been carried out by Airtel employees on the wings of the Make Your Change project.
