Accra, April 28, GNA - Mr Tony BouDib, Managing Director of Akuafo Adamfo Marketing Company Limited, a subsidiary of Finatrade Group of Companies, on Thursday promised to foster relations with cocoa farmers to create more jobs.

"As part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of our company that has been engaged in cocoa purchasing, we shall broaden our horizon to embrace more farmers and support the development of their communities."

Mr BouDib gave the promise when the company paid GH¢ 1.5 Million to

the Ghana Revenue Authority as corporate tax for 2010. The Akuafo Adamfo, a private company, is the second largest buyer of

cocoa in Ghana, apart from Produce Buying Company and covers more than

170,000 farmers in their operational areas. The Managing Director said his company had given direct employment to

8,000 Ghanaians, a figure, he said, could increase in future. Mr Kwasi Oppong-Damoah, Assistant Commissioner of Ghana Revenue

Authority, commended Akuafo Adamfo for the prompt payment of taxes

over the years and appealed to other companies to emulate the example to

wean government from loans and grants. He said most developed countries that provided loans and grants to

Ghana depended heavily on local taxes. Mr Nabil Moukarzel, Chairman of the Finatrade Group of Companies

asked government to offer the necessary security for foreign companies to

survive in the competitive market.
