Kasoa, Sept. 28, GNA - The AKyempem Rural Bank, would soon introduce an Automated Teller Machines (ATM) as part of its 18-month corporate strategy to better serve the needs of clients and up its profits.

Colonel (Rtd) K. K. Nyame, Chairman of the board of directors, made this known at the inauguration of its new branch at Kasoa. The 18-month corporate strategic plan, he explained, would also ensure that the bank would be fully networked amongst all its five branches.

"The bank has embarked on an educational programme to inform its clients and the public about the new system to be introduced by the bank," he said.

Mr Frank Baah, Chief Operations Manager of the bank, said the opening of branch at Kasoa would help to promote a healthy competition with the 14 other banks currently operating in the fastest growing commercial centre nationwide.

He said before the inauguration of the branch, five women groups have already been formed and trained about the way and manner to operate their businesses to enhance growth. Mr Jacob Wellington Assan, Supervising Manager of the bank, said a total of GHC24 million had been granted as loans and overdrafts to various customers at the end of July. He said the bank had also given out GHC726,436 to 65 women groups to expand their businesses.

Mr Assan said the total deposit of the bank as at July this year stood at GHC482,408.62 while the short term investment also shot up to GHC1.1 million.

The Supervising Manager said the bank had rolled out many products to assist salaried workers, children's education, women groups, contractors, and other business operators to enhance growth to reduce poverty. 28 Sept.10
