Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, former Zongo Minister and a key figure in Alan Kyerematen’s campaign, has assured chiefs in the Upper West Region that northern Ghana will be transformed into an agricultural powerhouse under Kyerematen’s leadership.

Speaking during a gathering of traditional leaders on October 21, 2024, as part of the Caravan Campaign Tour, Alhaji Saddique outlined how Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) will harness the region’s vast agricultural potential to boost the economy.

“When Alan Kyerematen assumes office, the northern sector will be transformed into the food basket of the entire nation and beyond,” Alhaji Saddique declared, receiving applause from the assembled chiefs.

“We are blessed with abundant arable land and natural resources, and under Alan’s leadership, these resources will be fully utilized for the benefit of all.”

He highlighted that the GTP will revolutionize agriculture in northern Ghana, turning untapped resources into economic assets.

“Alan’s new agricultural revolution will create jobs and make Ghana self-sufficient in food production. We will no longer rely on imports when we have everything we need right here,” he emphasized.

Alhaji Saddique pointed out the broader economic opportunities beyond agriculture, noting that the northern regions possess immense potential in sectors like agroforestry and natural resource management.

“There’s nothing in the north that can’t be turned into economic value—whether it’s the trees, medicinal plants, or the fertile land. Alan understands this, and his plan will ensure every inch of this region contributes to national development.”

Drawing on his experience as Zongo Minister during President Akufo-Addo’s first term, Alhaji Saddique addressed the country’s youth unemployment crisis and its economic challenges.

He criticized the lack of visionary leadership, which he sees as the root of Ghana’s economic struggles.

“Our problem isn’t a lack of resources—it’s a lack of visionary leaders. Alan Kyerematen is that visionary. He is a nationalist who will create jobs and ensure every Ghanaian has money in their pockets.”

Alhaji Saddique further explained that Kyerematen’s GTP is designed to tackle unemployment and economic stagnation by prioritizing job creation.

“When the youth are jobless, it leads to desperation, and that’s when we see a rise in crime and unrest. Alan’s plan will create sustainable jobs for young people, bringing peace by keeping idle hands productive.”

He urged the chiefs and the people of the Upper West Region to support Alan Kyerematen, stressing that politics should transcend tribal or religious affiliations.

“We need a leader who will unite us all, regardless of our backgrounds. Alan Kyerematen is that leader. He will ensure every region and community benefits from the national development agenda.”

In response, Elder Cletus Nyureh, representing the Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area, Prof. Edmund Nminnyem Dell Chiir VIII, expressed the chiefs’ admiration for Kyerematen’s vision and their long-standing anticipation of his visit.

The traditional leaders expressed their support for his bid to lead Ghana, confident in his ability to deliver on his promises.
