Alfa Laval Commits to Supporting Industrial Development in Ghana

With its long experience and wide expertise in industrial development, Alfa Laval has finally started operations in Ghana and West Africa. Alfa Laval is a leading global provider of specialized products and engineering solutions based on its key technologies of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling. Alfa Laval’s products are used in key industrial processes to assist customers in reducing energy use, protecting the environment, and increasing safety for food and pharmaceutical production.

Until recently, North Africa and West Africa were directly managed from France, representing 22 countries from Tunisia to Congo. In order to capture and respond to business opportunities in the region, Alfa Laval opened a permanent sales office in Ghana in August 2014. The new West-African office located in Accra will focus on Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Senegal. The company’s equipment, systems and services are dedicated to assisting customers in optimizing the performance of their processes. The solutions help them to heat, cool, separate and transport products in industries that produce food and beverages, chemicals and petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, starch, sugar and ethanol.

Alfa Laval’s products are also used in power plants, aboard ships, oil and gas exploration, in the mechanical engineering industry, in the mining industry and for wastewater treatment, as well as for comfort climate and refrigeration applications. In general, their products apply to a wide range of industries around the world towards meeting tomorrow’s challenges.

With over 17000 employees working in all functions of the value chain, from R&D, production, engineering, sales and service, the group generates a turnover of 4 Billion Euros per year and is present in 100 countries. It is present with fully owned companies in 55 countries and through partners in 45 other countries. The company is listed on Nasdaq OMX, and, in 2014, posted annual sales of about SEK 35 billion (approx. 3.7 billion Euros). At the Technical Day and Inauguration of the West Africa office in Accra at the French Residency, Cyril Massard, regional sales manager for West Africa expressed the company’s commitment to supporting industrial development in Ghana and West Africa as a whole.

The company will support local industries with components, modules and complete processed lines to meet the increasing local demand for processed food. It will also supply the most crucial and reliable components and modules to oil and gas production and power generation where they have proven experience in major auxiliaries such as fuel conditioning and plant cooling. The company is in to create a footprint for West Africa not just by selling industrial equipment but to also provide easy access to technical expertise and services on a daily basis during the whole lifetime of equipment bought.

The French Ambassador in Ghana, Mister Frédéric Clavier lauded the choice of Ghana for the West Africa office and admonished Alfa Lava to explore the capacities and expertise of Ghanaians to create synergies and partnerships.
