AMERIGHANA, a non-governmental organization based in the United States, has commissioned its first modern car washing centre to help raise funds to provide assistance to the educational and health care needs of children in Accra and other parts of the country. The centre which is located off the Kwashieman-Abeka-Lapaz Motorway in Accra is equipped with the most modern car washing machine in Ghana, which is capable of washing a saloon car in less than ten minutes. Drivers who come to the centre would be requested to donate an amount of ten thousand cedis (just over a dollar) to charity.

Mr. Dokes, who comes from Inkster in Michigan said, his organization had donated more than 500,000 Dollars worth of medical supplies to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and other organizations in the country.

He said the government through AMA, provided the piece of land on which the centre has been built and would open similar facilities around the city of Accra and other parts of the country as and when land has been made available.

He said AMERIGHAHA would establish out patient clinics in deprived communities and bring in a medical team to provide free health care to people especially children in those communities. With about 60 people employed at the newly opened washing centre, the CEO said, the car wash centres would also provide jobs for the young people currently on the streets.
