Application vouchers: Police Service makes over GHC 2,500,000

The Ghana Police Service is richer by a whopping GHC 2,500,000 so far from the sale of application vouchers to prospective recruits into the service.

The law enforcement institution on Wednesday May 11, 2016 commenced the sale of its application vouchers at the cost of GhC100 at all GCB Bank Limited branches across the country.

Currently over 25,000 of the application vouchers have been sold out, and the application process is expected to close on May 31, 2016.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur in an interview on Neat FM on Thursday stated that the police will not pocket the money all alone, because the sale of the application vouchers was done with support from the GCB Bank Limited.

“The claim that the Police Service has become fabulously rich through the sale of the application voucher is not the case. We did the sale in partnership with other collaborators such as the Bank, we had an IT people also working on the application process etc. There are other administrative costs that we’ll have to settle, what we’re doing is just like our universities do.”

Superintendent Cephas Arthur however urged applicants who have bought the vouchers but are worried due to difficulties being encountered especially as the deadline approaches to remain calm, as they will be taken care of by the Police Administration.

“We’re monitoring the sale of the vouchers at the banks, at the expiration of the duration (31st May) whoever has bought the voucher but due to some technical challenges is not able to apply electronically will be allowed to do so, if it means we’ll have to extend the date for such persons.”

Meanwhile, according to the police, all applicants must be Ghanaians not less than 18 years and not more than 25 years of age, must be at least 5 feet 8 inches [173cm] tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches [163] for females, must be physically fit and must be of good character, without any criminal record.
