Appoint Trust for GCMA-Concerned Co-operators

Accra, March 1, GNA - Members of the Concerned Co-operators of the Ghana Co-operative Marketing Association (GCMA) have petitioned the Minister of Manpower Development and Employment to appoint a Trust to which the confiscated assets of the association could be released. This, they contended, would help source operational funds for the association.

In a five-point petition to the Minister, signed by Nana Appiah Asante Ababio, spokesman of the Concerned Co-operators, and a copy made available to the Ghana News Agency, members also called for the appointment of a Board of Management for GCMA, to plan and oversee the association's operations.

Members further called for the dissolution of the association's Crises Management Team (CMT) for non-performance. They suggested the appointment of a seven-member Board of dedicated men of proven administrative and managerial integrity who would be committed to the welfare of GCMA.

Members hoped the petition would receive a favourable response, to enable the association to return early enough "into the field to take its proper position in the National Economy."
