Asanko Gold Ghana Limited has signed a $400 million contract with indigenous mining services firm Rabotec Ghana Limited, in a move aimed at deepening local participation and creating thousands of jobs in the country’s mining sector.
The agreement, announced at a contract signing ceremony on March 30, 2026, marks a new phase in the long-standing partnership between the two companies and underscores efforts to retain more value within Ghana’s economy.
Speaking at the event, Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana, Dr Charles Amoah, said the deal reflects both performance and confidence in local capacity.

“This is not simply a contract. It reflects a clear business decision that supports Ghana’s Local Content agenda and retains more value within the country,” he stated.
According to him, the partnership is expected to generate approximately 3,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect jobs, while strengthening local participation across the mining value chain.
“Fundamentally, this is about creating jobs, building skills, and strengthening Ghanaian businesses to operate at the scale and standard this industry demands,” Dr Amoah added.
Rabotec, a Ghanaian-owned mining services provider, has worked with Asanko for over 11 years, gradually expanding its role from smaller assignments to large-scale operations. The latest contract builds on what Asanko described as the company’s strong performance over the past two years.
Dr Amoah emphasised that the partnership goes beyond employment, focusing on long-term skills development and sustainable economic impact.
“This not just about participation, but capability and it's not just jobs, but skills that endure,” he said.
He also reiterated Asanko’s commitment to safety, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance, describing them as non-negotiable in its operations.
“At Asanko, our focus remains clear: safe, responsible, and profitable gold production, without compromise,” Dr Amoah stressed.
Beyond operations, the company noted that it will continue investing in host communities through initiatives in education, agriculture, and local development to ensure mining benefits extend beyond the life of the mine.
