Kumasi, Nov. 3, GNA – The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for more efficiency in telecommunication service delivery to speed up the nation’s socio-economic development.

He noted that despite the influx of telecommunication operators and the attendant intense competition amongst them, the quality of service delivery remained a challenge.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s sentiments were articulated by the Paramount Chief of Bechem, Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto, when a delegation from Glo Mobile Ghana Limited, paid a courtesy call on him at his Manhyia palace in Kumasi, on Wednesday.

The Asantehene urged the management of the company not only to be obsessed with making profit, but to work to ensure quality and efficient service delivery.

He said it was by doing that that they could win the confidence and loyalty of subscribers.

The Asantehene commended the company for bracing the storm to enter the already highly competitive industry and said with quality service and efficient customer care they would survive.

Mr George Andah, the Chief Operating Officer, said the delegation was at the palace to officially inform the Asantehene of the commencement of commercial activities of the company.

Glo Mobile’s has fixed the middle of this month for its formal operations.

Mr Andah said Glo was poised to change the face of communication in Ghana and added that the company had initiated a youth empowerment programme to develop business plans and skills that would make them self employable.
