The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the immense contributions that local banks in the country, especially uniBank, have been making towards the socio-economic growth and development of the country.

He said this when a six-member delegation from uniBank Ghana Limited, led by the Head, Marketing and Communications, Richard Osei Anane, visited the Manhyia Palace to wish Otumfuo a happy New Year and introduce Mr. Emmanuel Yaw Atuobi-Yeboah as the new Branch Manager of the Harper Road Branch, Kumasi.

Welcoming the delegation, the Asantehene identified uniBank as one of the progressive indigenous local banks whose banking products and services are impacting positively on the lives of Ghanaians.

“I am delighted that your bank is expanding its branch networks to reach the unbanked in Ghana with your products and services,” Otumfuo said.

He urged the bank’s relationship managers to strive as much as possible to reach out to small- scale and medium-size enterprises to provide advisory services and other products to help them improve their businesses.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also congratulated the shareholders, board and management of uniBank for recapitalising the bank to a capital base of GH?60 million, as required by the Bank of Ghana after he had been briefed about the bank’s recent recapitalisation.

Asantehene used the occasion to welcome Mr. Yaw Atuobi-Yeboah to Kumasi as he assumes his new position as Harper Road Branch Manager on February 1, 2013. He tasked him to build on the successes of his predecessor, stressing,“I would be very interested in your performance and the bank as a whole.”

Richard Osei Anane, on behalf of the delegation, thanked Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the warm reception and pledged that the bank would take on board the advice that he had given. He wished him and Asanteman well.

The delegation was made up of Mrs. Ruth Benny Wood, Communications and Events Manager; Mrs. Birago Agyei-Anim, Customer Service Manager; Ms. Manubea Twumasi, Branch Manager, Golden Tulip Branch; and Mr. Stephen Osei, outgoing Branch Manager, Harper Road, who has been transferred to Suame branch.
