Association of Ghana Industries gets new President

Accra, Nov. 24, GNA - Mr Tony Oteng-Gyasi, Managing Director of Tropical Cable & Conductor Limited, is the new President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).

He polled 121 votes to defeat the Incumbent, Prince Kofi Kludjeson of Kludjeson International Limited, who had 78 votes, at the 45th Annual General Meeting of the Association held at the Auditorium of the Ghana Trade Fair Company in Accra on Wednesday.

A statement Mr Cletus Kosiba, Acting Executive Director of the Association, signed on Thursday said Chief Executives of 10 companies contested the election and seven were elected to the National Executive Council of the Association.

They were Mr Oteng-Gyasi; Prince Kludjeson; Nana Owusu-Afari of Afariwaa Farms and Livestock Products Limited; Mrs Leticia Osafo-Addo of Processed Foods & Spices Limited and Mr Gopal C. Vasu of M & G Pharmaceutical Limited.

The others were Mr S. A. Appenteng of Joissam (Gh) Limited and Mr R.A.K. Nketia of Rakita Holdings Limited. The statement said the new Executive Committee would hold office for a term of two-years, 2005 - 2007, after which they would be eligible to stand for re-election.

Mr Oteng-Gyasi is expected to name his Vice-President and National Treasurer shortly.

The statement said the election of the National Officers at the AGM completed the reconstitution of the National Council, made up of the seven elected members and regional and sector chairpersons, as well as representatives of Associate Members. 24 Nov. 05
