The Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation (BOST) has initiated a four-day training programme for its technical and mechanical staff across all depots, aligning with its broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency nationwide.
Addressing staff during the opening of the ‘Depot Upgrade Training’ in Accra, BOST’s HR Director, Augustine Appiah, on behalf of Managing Director Dr. Edwin Provencal, emphasized that depot automation is a crucial part of BOST’s strategic investment.
“We see it as the turning point for the company, repositioning us to affirm our leadership in the industry,” Mr. Appiah stated.
He noted that the automation initiative, in partnership with Automation Solutions Limited (ASL), is progressing well. “The first phase is about 75 percent complete, and we expect to finalize automation at APD and Kumasi depots by November 2024,” Mr. Appiah disclosed.
Once complete, he said BOST anticipates tripling its efficiency, thereby strengthening its competitive edge in the oil storage and transportation industry. “This is key to regaining the confidence of our multilateral customers and ensuring they continue working with us,” Mr. Appiah added, urging staff to embrace the changes and maximize the learning opportunities provided by the training.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ASL, Kweku Asmah, stated the importance of infrastructure upgrades for BOST, given the evolving energy landscape.
He reiterated ASL’s commitment to partnering with BOST, saying, “Our project includes a series of technical and operational training sessions designed to ensure the system’s sustainability.”
The training covers key areas such as industrial control, automation fundamentals, instrumentation, and mechanical setup and maintenance. Trainees, he said, will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and collaborate to enhance their skill sets.
Mr. Asmah emphasized that BOST’s investment in this training reflects a broader commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental stewardship in the energy sector.
He further assured that ASL would continue supporting BOST in maintaining a sustainable and efficient fuel supply chain across the country.
