As part of the effort to curb the challenges caused by the lack of a fire tender at the Buipe fire station, in the Savannah region, the Bulk Oil storage and Transportation Company (BOST) has made a cash donation of GH¢55,000 to the Buipe station of the Ghana National Fire Service.

According to BOST, the payment was to cover expenses needed to fix the fire tender which according to the GNFS has been idle and nonfunctional for months .

The Regional Fire Officer for the Savannah Region, Kwasi Baffour Awuah, described the assistance as a timely gesture.

In expressing his appreciation for the gesture, the Regional Fire Officer for the Savannah Region, Kwasi Baffour Awuah, said “for the past one month, our fire tender was down and we made an appeal to various stakeholders and God being so good BOST assisted us with a colossal amount of GH¢58, 000 to repair our fire tender. We had a message three days ago that Volvo has been able to fix our fire tender”.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to BOST for assisting us and fixing our fire tender. The people of Buipe will heave a sigh of relief. Now the area from Kintampo to Tamale are now covered. I want to entreat each and every one that, the harmattan is here and the weather is not favourable so everyone must be cautious with the use of fire especially naked fire. Our fire safety education is ongoing. We are at every place, the church, mosque, market and on FM stations, educating people about the hazards of fire.” He added

The Managing Director of BOST, Edwin Provencal, expressed satisfaction with the work done on the equipment and assured that BOST will continue to partner its stakeholders to help make Ghana a better place.
