General Manager of the Akyempim Rural Bank, Mr Stephen Kwesi Bedu, has urged workers in the banking sector, especially those in the rural areas, to put up credible performance to win the trust of the people.

He said employees of financial institutions needed to show high sense of honesty and hard work that would win the love, trust, and confidence of the public in their transactions with banks to support in the country’s development agenda.

Mr Bedu gave the advice when he addressed workers of the Bank at a three-day orientation course organised by the Management at Gomoa Dawurampong.

He cautioned the workers that management would not tolerate any act of indiscipline, adding that the Bank had a major role to play in the socio-economic development of the country.

Mr Bedu said without the active involvement of the banking sector the country’s rural development could not achieve the expected goals and it was, therefore, incumbent on workers to be sincere in their dealings with their clients.

He said notwithstanding the challenges posed by the current mobile banking, rural banks had equal chance of winning enough customers to assist in the banking industry to chalk successes.

This could be done through the continuation of the village-to-village sensitisation activities to sustain the public interest in the rural banking system, he said.

Mr Bedu called on rural banks to continue with their assistance to communities in their operational areas in the provision of self-help projects such as school blocks and health centres.

The workers expressed gratitude to the Management of the Bank for the orientation course and pledged to render excellent services to promote the Bank’s aims and objectives.
