Banks in Accra on Monday opened for normal business in spite of a five-day strike action announced by the leadership of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) of the Trades Union Congress TUC of which they are members. However, representatives of local unions of the banks are meeting to decide whether to come to work on subsequent days or heed to a plea by the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare to call off the strike action.
