Bill Against Private Lotto

A bill to abolish the operations of the private lotto business, popularly known as 'Banker-to-banker,' has been sent to Parliament for approval.

This was made known to the Chronicle in an exclusive interview with Mr Alex Baffour Gyimah, Acting Director of the Department of National Lotteries {DNL], after he had presented a cheque for ?100.720,000 to the 14th Mega Winner of 5\39 Fortune Lotto, Mad Lucy Animwaah, a trader at Mallam Atta Market, a suburb of Accra, yesterday.

He explained that if Parliament gives its support to the bill, it would help the DNL to generate more revenue for the government to facilitate its developmental projects.

He described the erroneous impressions created by most people that abolition of the private lotto operation would render people jobless as unfortunate.

Mr. Gyimah noted that the government would rather employ more people as lotto receivers and will also retrieve 70 percent of the money that goes to the private.lotto operators.

Mad Lucy Animwaah, the winner of the 44th draw, added her voice to the call of the people to patronize the 5\39 Fortune Lotto as it brings the dreams of millionaire into reality.
