British Consultants and Construction Bureau Trade Mission to visit Ghana

Accra, March 4, GNA - The British High Commission announced on Friday that the British Consultants and Construction Bureau would visit Ghana from March 8-11 during which it would meet with ministers, officials and institutions who are responsible for the planning and management of the 2008 African Cup of Nations competition. A statement issued in Accra said the delegation, to be led by Mr Douglas Kerr, would comprise 16 British companies and would undertake an extensive programme in Accra and Kumasi.

During the visit, the second by the Bureau, members would carry out a series of seminars and meetings designed to identify areas in which British expertise could assist with Ghana's preparation for the 2008 Cup of African Nations.

It said this was a follow-up visit to a recent sports and leisure seminar held in the UK, which was attended by the Chief Operations Officer of the Ghana CAN 2008 Local Organising Committee, Mr Magnus Rex Danquah.

The statement said the Mission's members represent a wide range of consultancy and construction companies.

These include specialists in fire, safety and security services, construction, financial planning, master planning, project and risk management.

Other areas of consultancy expertise include architecture, engineering, management, leisure, rail, mechanical and electrical services.

It said the UK companies were also offering turnkey solutions for ticketing, infrastructure development, electrical equipment, accommodation, transportation, hospitality, media management, information technology; human resource recruitment and training solutions.

A synthetic turf supplier and a law firm specialising in infrastructure projects are also participating in the mission. The mission participants will undertake an extensive programme in Accra and Kumasi.

The British Consultancy and Construction Bureau is the major British Trade Association promoting British expertise internationally. Their 300 membership covers all the major consulting and construction sectors.
