Business delegation in Denmark

A 37-man delegation drawn from the building and construction sector of Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire is in Denmark on a four-day visit to witness at first-hand technologies in energy-efficient building among other green building technologies.

The delegation marks an important transition in the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Denmark -- a transition toward a partnership of increased trade and investment.

Promotion of green and sustainable buildings and architecture worldwide is a top priority for Denmark.

It has become more important now in the light of energy crisis confronting Ghana. It is possible to save 80 percent of the energy consumption simply by designing and situating buildings correctly in relation to the surrounding urban landscape and climate.

The delegation includes some members of Ghana Real Estate and Developers Association (GREDA), Architects and other professionals from the sector. The delegates will be on a road show in Denmark to visit a number of top technology providers, architectural firms etc.

On the first day a business dinner to welcome the delegates was held, and the Ambassador of Ghana to Denmark, Mrs. Edith Hazel, was present to welcome the delegates to Denmark.

“We hope to see Ghanaian and Ivorian companies working with Danish companies on the application of innovative technology in energy-efficient buildings.

“Our two countries have over the years forged a strong bond of friendship and worked as development partners, during which time Denmark has provided tremendous assistance in good governance and human rights education: education, research and capacity building; and also health, among others that have positively contributed to our development.”

The working relationship that exists between the two embassies have already yielded three trade visits to Denmark within the past twelve months, which focused on stronger private sector partnerships in various sectors.
