CAGD launches payroll site in Tamale

As part of its decentralization programme, the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has launched a pay roll site in Tamale.

The site is meant to address challenges associated with the salaries and allowances of public servants as well as Pensioners gratuity in the three northern regions.

At the official launch in Tamale, Northern regional Director of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, Mr. Daniel Quayson said public servants and pensioners in northern Ghana will no longer travel to Accra to solve their complaints.

He gave the assurance that the myriad of frustrations workers and Pensioners in northern Ghana went through by traveling long distances to Accra to have challenges concerning their salaries and allowances will be a thing of the past.

“We at the regional directorate want to state in clear and unmistakable terms that our clients who are the populace will be paramount to us in all we do; we pledge to serve the Pensioners and other citizens with all zeal, dedication and commitment.”

Mr. Daniel Quayson however called for better service conditions to enable staff of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department diligently discharge their duties.

Deputy northern regional Minister, Hon. Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini recalled the difficulties Pensioners in northern Ghana encountered trying to solve their problems and commended the CAGD for its intervention.

Alhaji Fuseini who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu constituency in the northern region urged the CAGD staff to put the facility to good use.

In a speech read on her behalf, the Acting Controller and Accountant General, Madam Grace Francisca Adzoe said a Client Service Unit has been attached to the facility.

She also announced the new Electronic Pay slips system which she said will enable employees view their pay slips on their mobile phones or other electronic devices with internet connectivity.
