Head of Corporate Communications at the Consolidated Bank Ghana,
Mrs. Anita Oppong has bagged a doctorate degree in Business Administration from the Nobel International Business School (NiBS).
In an interview with tishdaily.com after a beautiful graduation ceremony held over the weekend, now Dr. Mrs.Anita Oppong said she decided to enter the program because she felt she was getting rusty and needed to put herself back in shape.
"At a point I felt I was getting rusty because there wasn’t much to be done when I joined Sovereign Bank.
I realized that people looked up to me and there was more I could do so that’s another reason I enrolled in the program, she explained".
According to her, what she studied will go a long way to help her in executing her duties as Head of Corporate Communications, especially because CBG as an indigenous bank has a story to tell.
She added that the stories to be told would help improve the company’s brand and also increase customer loyalty, stating that, that was part of what she studied and therefore plans on putting them into good use by pulling the right strings.
Advising other female bankers who would want to further their education to her level, Dr. Mrs. Oppong said they should remain focused and set their priorities.
The mother of four (4) and an old student of Aburi Girls said the journey is very lonely and tasking.
"It’s a lonely journey. When you start, you know it is going to be lonely. It involves a lot of reading, assignments and there are times you sleep maximum two hours", she said.
Explaining why she describes it as a lonely journey, Dr. Oppong said it was difficult for people to understand what she was doing.
"People expect you to live a normal life but you have to be very committed and focused otherwise you will fall off along the way", she explained.
Dr. Anita Oppong was full of praise for her husband saying he gave her all the support she needed to enable her complete her course.
" My husband was virtually submitting all my assignments. When I am out of town he comes, follows everything and makes sure I never miss out on any assignment.
He has been so supportive and my children have been amazing too. My husband is one of the main reasons I was able to complete this course", she said beaming with smiles.
