CDH commissions home for Village of Hope

Management of CDH Financial Holdings Limited on Saturday commissioned a multi-purpose residential facility for the Village of Hope Orphanage at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

The facility christened “CDH Home” accommodates 24 students and their parents and other care-givers and it includes bedrooms, a family lounge, study area, washrooms, dining hall, storage rooms and a library.

The project was funded by CDH Financial Holdings which include contributions from the staff of CDH, Ivory Finance, Phoenix Insurance and Phoenix Life Assurance.

Mr Martin Asamoah, Executive Director of CDH Commodities Limited on behalf of Mr Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee, Group Chief Executive Officer of CDH Financial Holdings Limited, said the gesture was in fulfillment of the pledge made at the launch of its 25th anniversary in September 2012.

Mr Asamoah said CDH believes in developing human capital of the nation to ensure effective socio-economic development as well as invest in the lives of the needy but brilliant students in society.

He said their outfit will continue to work with the orphanage to maintain the facility and advised the students to be focused in life, have hope for the future and work hard to meet their future aspirations.

Mr Fred Asare, Managing Director of the Orphanage, thanked management of CDH for constructing the facility saying the gesture demonstrated their philanthropic concern for the needy.

The orphanage was established in 1999 with eight children and initiated by the Church of Christ to educate orphans and alleviate the plight of street children. Mr Asare said the mission of the orphanage is to nurture needy children in a holistic manner, to provide excellent secondary-level health care services and to educate students to excel in character, scholarship, service and leadership.

He said there are 214 children in the orphanage with thirty-six of them in high schools, twenty four in various universities and polytechnics and nine are awaiting to be enrolled into the universities.

Mr Asare said the Orphanage had performed well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination for the past five years and that with the establishment of Senior High School, 78 of its student will for the first time sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination next year.

He said the Orphanage has hospital with the modern equipment which provides healthcare to the children as well as the community members. Nana Abor Yamoah II, Chief of Gomoa Fetteh, expressed appreciation to the efforts of CDH for the facility and urged management of the orphanage to maintain the facility. He appealed to other corporate organisations to come to the aid of the orphanage.
