CEPS exceeds revenue target by sixteen per cent in Upper East

Bolgatanga, Feb. 20, GNA- The Customs, Excise and Preventive Services (CEPS), last year exceeded it targeted revenue of 14.9 billion cedis by 17.6 billion cedis in the Upper East Region, representing an increase of 16 per cent.

The Sector Commanding Officer of CEPS, Mr Anthony Sewor announced this at an end of year party for personnel of the Service in Bolgatanga during which some 18 officers were awarded for their commitment to duty. Mr Sewor said since the political conflict in La Cote d' Ivoire started, transit trade through Paga and Kulungugu border posts has increased.

He said CEPS post would be opened at Chuchuliga near Navrongo to link the Region with neighbouring Upper West Region.

Mr Sewor expressed concern about the increasing number of uncustom motorbikes and other means of transport in the Region, which he said were likely to be stolen from neighbouring countries.

He warned persons with such vehicles to acquire the necessary documents from CEPS before they are arrested and prosecuted.
