Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM UK), Ghana Branch, has elected new executives to be in charge of the branch for the next two years.
A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Mrs. Patricia A. Tegbe-Agbo, Public Relations Officer, said at an election held in Accra, Mr. Robertson Torgbor, was elected Chairman, Mr Kwasi Kyere, Vice Chairman, Mr Robert Dzogbenuku, Treasurer and Mr Franklin Sowa, Organising Secretary. Others are: Mrs Patricia Akpene Tegbe-Agbo, Public Relations Officer, Mr Gabriel Kwame, Students Liaison Officer and Mr. George Naykene, Continuous Professional Development Officer. The rest are Mr Gakpetor Atsu Gbedevi, Secretary, Mr Solomon Adu Atefoe, Executive Member, Mr Desmond Lamptey, Membership Officer and Mr Adam Sulley, Ex-Oficio Member.
The statement said the CIM started in 1911 as the Incorporated Sales Managers Association (ISMA) and in 1968 the name was changed to Institute of Marketing. It said in 1989 Queen Elizabeth of England granted the Institute the Royal Charter Status and nine years later, the individual members were granted the Charter Status and the first Chartered Marketer designation was awarded. The Institute has over 50,000 Members and 4,500 Chartered Marketers in over 100 countries worldwide. Ghana has the highest number of Chartered Marketers in Africa with 2 Fellows and 32 Chartered Marketers.
