Head of the Department of Marketing at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr Andrews Adugudaa Akolaa, has been awarded Fellowship status in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK.
Fellowship is the utmost recognition CIM-UK confers on its members. It is awarded to a marketing professional with proven record of expertise, experience, success and display of a high level of responsibility in marketing operations.
Dr. Akolaa joined the CIM UK as an associate member in 1996. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG).
Andrews teaches Contemporary Issues in Marketing (at the PhD level), Marketing Management and Digital Marketing (MBA) and International Marketing at the undergraduate level.
He has over 20 years’ experience in Sales and Marketing, from the Media, Beverages and Telecommunications sectors.
Before going into academia, Andrews worked with Airtel Ghana as the Vice President responsible for Sales & Distribution. He also served as Sales Director for Guinness Ghana Breweries a subsidiary of Diageo Plc., where he led one of the biggest sales teams to deliver on the total beverage agenda of the business.
Andrews also held various positions in Kasapreko Company Limited including; General Manager for international business, where he spearheaded the company’s export programme across the West African Region and other parts of Africa, as Sales and Marketing Manager, Marketing and Public Relations Manager.
He has a vast experience in media marketing haven worked as a pioneering staff of the Multimedia Group, TV3 Network Limited and Peace FM, where he served in various positions in sales and marketing from 1996.
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the SMC University in Switzerland. Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School and Professional Marketer from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK
Currently, he is the Lead Consultant of Ocean Star Consulting and a Member of the Board of National Biosafety Authority. He served as a council member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, where he has been a member since 1996. He also served as a council member of the Association of Ghanaian Industries (AGI), and previously as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Brand Ghana office and the National President of BONABOTO.
Andrews’ expertise and research interests include brand management, corporate strategy, customer service management, development communication, sales leadership, international business management, international trade and global dimensions of business, marketing management and organizational coaching and mentoring.
He has published articles in reputable journals and participated in several international and local conferences.
