CSA calls for President's intervention in salary negotiations

Sekondi, Sept 19, GNA - The Western Region branch of the Civil Servants Association (CSA) has said the stalled salary negotiations between the association and the Central Management Board could aggravate the economic hardships facing its members.

It has therefore asked its National Executive Committee to complain to President John Agyekum Kufuor for "immediate amicable solution of the impasse".

These were contained in a resolution adopted by members after their meeting to discuss pertinent issues affecting them at Sekondi over the weekend.

Mr John Ampaabeng Kyeremeh and Mr Kofi Odoom, Regional Chairman and Regional Secretary respectively, signed the resolution that said members "will advice themselves if no solution is found to the impasse by the end of this month.''

They called on the Controller and Accountant General to explain the complexities in the implementation of salary advance to members of the association and also demanded that leave allowance should be deconsolidated so that members could conveniently travel during their annual vacation leave.

The members called on the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to release funds for the refund of medical bills of members and urged the government to release the report of the Presidential Commission on Pensions without delay.
