The Managing Director of Prodeca; an agrifood exports promotion agency, Ramon Sentmarti Castañé has indicated that trade ties between the people of Catalonia and Ghana will help boost the agri-food sector of the country.
Speaking at the International Business Forum in Africa at the Kempinski Hotel, Mr. Sentmarti said the objective is to establish a connection between Catalan companies and other African companies including Ghana that would help them gain access to the European market.
According to him, they realised Ghana and Africa as a whole has great potential in the agriculture sector hence the need to have a joint venture that will boost the industry.
He further stressed the partnership will be a win-win strategy for both sides because both countries will exchange ideas that would help the agri-food sector.
“The advantage from our side is that we have access not only to Catalonia but to the Spanish and to the European market. The main focus is on the agri-food sector but we realised that from all sides we can bring a lot of know-how, we can bring a lot of research so it can make more fruitful and profitable with this relationship between both sides...We believe this joint venture will join a strategy we can bring our know-how strategies to make this more profitable for both sides”, he added.
The International Business Forum in Africa brought together businesses from other African countries from various agric sectors to deliberate on how to elevate the industry.
The programme allows business people from Catalonia and Ghana to meet counterparts from other African markets. Its aim is to create a meeting platform for participants to exchange matters of interest and concern while also generating business flows that can benefit all those involved.
