Accra High Court bars Chairman Wontumi from travelling out of Ghana
Ghanaian businessman Bernard Antwi-Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been placed on a stop list at all ports of entry and exit in Ghana.
This directive follows an order from the Accra High Court as part of his bail conditions.
Chairman Wontumi is facing six criminal charges related to allegations of illegal mining involving him and his company, Akonta Mining Limited.
Details of the charge sheet, filed by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, indicate that Chairman Wontumi has been charged alongside his company and one Kwame Antwi, identified as the company’s director.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Chairman Wontumi was granted bail in the sum of GH¢1 million, pending the commencement of his trial.

His bail followed his appearance before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in Accra on October 6, 2025.
Effective October 7, 2025, the court ruled that Wontumi is not permitted to travel until the case filed against him for illegal mining is concluded.
