Accra, Aug. 17, GNA - The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has endorsed the Ghana CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Diary and Awards.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the CSR Diary and Awards said the endorsement confirmed “an unprecedented support” by industry for the event.
The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the Daily Graphic and other media organizations in and outside Ghana had earlier endorsed the Ghana CSR Diary and Awards 2011 as Ghana’s mainstream CSR event, according to the statement signed by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Mr. Emmanuel Doni-Kwame.
The Ghana CSR Diary and Awards is a combination of a special CSR magazine and a non-competitive CSR Awards based on recognition of socially impacting projects executed by Corporate Ghana.
The Lead Project Manager, Mr. Kojo O-Williams, said: “The Ghana CSR Diary & Awards is the first of its kind in Ghana’s competitive business landscape. The CSR Diary will detail and publicise projects, socially impacting initiatives and philanthropic activities executed by companies in Ghana.”
He said the CSR Awards attached to the Diary was a non-competitive awards of recognition that would be given to all companies who had their CSR activities published in the Ghana CSR Diary as recognition of their efforts and an encouragement for them to do more for society.
“CSR should not be a competition, it should be an obligation and irrespective of the size or magnitude, companies should be encouraged to do more for society to ensure impact, hence, the non-competitive nature of the Ghana CSR Diary & Awards,” Mr O-Williams said.
