Mr. Theophilus Temakoloe, the President of the Association of young farmers in Assin, has appealed to the government to change the name of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) for failing to support farmers.

The group numbering over 15, 000 believe the bank has failed woefully to live up to its name.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Chairman of the group, said a lot of proposals sent by the group to the bank for loans have all not received response, “what really shows they are supporting farmers?”, he asked.

Mr Temakoloe however hailed plans to float the shares of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and said this will enhance access to funding and also push the bank forward to compete favorably with peer banking institutions.

Additionally,“the restructuring will capitalize the indigenous bank to move from the third position to the apex in the country as well as strengthen the financial institution to improve client and stakeholder services” he added.

He entreated all Ghanaians to buy the over 100 million shares offered to the general public to raise the expected GH? 300 million.
