The Chefs Association of Ghana in collaboration with Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) will organize a Jollof Festival on 26th August, 2017 at the Legon Botanical Gardens.

The main objective of the festival is to promote Ghanaian cuisine and create more awareness about ‘made in Ghana products.’

It is themed, ‘See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Feel Ghana, Wear Ghana.’

The festival will bring together chefs from all the 10 regions of Ghana to prepare their special Jollof by showcasing the variations that exist for jollof preparation from their regions.

Also participating in this event would be chefs from Nigeria, The Gambia and Senegal.

Featuring alongside the event will be the corporate CEO’s Jollof competition, while other professionals in the food preparation chain will exhibit typical Ghanaian cuisine for sale.

Suppliers in the food value chain will also have the opportunity to network with other businesses while the event will be spiced with music and lots of children’s games at the play ground.

On July 2, this year in Washington DC, Ghana lost her Jollof championship title to Nigeria in a keenly contested show.

But speaking to BUSINESS GUIDE, Isaac Sackey, President of the Chefs Association of Ghana, said: “We, the Chefs Association of Ghana, are fully prepared and are awaiting our counterparts from the above-mentioned countries.”

He said even though the upcoming Jollof Festival in Ghana is for sampling, “we will nonetheless use the opportunity to prepare fully to win the title in our own country.”

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman, commenting on the event, said the festival will also serve as a platform to showcase other staple foods of Ghana.

Jollof is a single pot dish prepared with rice and tomato gravvy with meat, fish or poultry.
