The China International Water and Electric Corporation has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) worth about GH¢100,000 to the Ministry of Energy to support its staff in the fight against COVID-19.
The items include 20,000 face masks, 450 bottles of hand sanitizers, 300 packs of tissue and 20 pieces of movable hand sanitizers.
Making the presentation, Mr Xie Dahu, Director, China International Water and Electric Corp. said the country should not be ravaged by the pandemic, and that the gesture was the company’s contribution to help fight against the virus.
The Director expressed gratitude to the government for taking measures to help combat the pandemic.
He said in a Chinese poem, “When you hoist the sails to cross the sea, you would ride the wind and cleave the waves”
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, William Owuraku Aidoo, Deputy Minister in charge of Power, thanked the company and promised to distribute the items equitably to staff of the ministry and its affiliate agencies.
He commended the Corporation for contributing an amount of GH¢800,000 to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund and called on other corporate organizations to emulate the good gesture.
He appealed to all corporate institutions with the wherewithal to also support the fight against the disease in their small ways.
The China International Water and Electric Corp. is a multinational company with businesses in over forty countries around the world.
The Corporation has completed quite a number of projects in Ghana, most of which are rural electrification projects for more than two thousand communities.
