Complement govt's dev’t efforts – CSOs urged

SEND-GHANA in partnership with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) has called for a proactive contribution from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to complement government’s efforts in realising SADA’s mandate.

A communiqué issued to the Ghana News Agency at the end of a two-day SADA - CSOs consultative conference held in Tamale, said the CSOs commends government for all the policy initiatives that it has introduced towards promoting the growth of the SADA zone.

“We wish to state that, we have confidence and trust in the new SADA management and board and are prepared to partner with them to ensure transparency and accountability to realize SADA’s mandate”

“We appreciate government’s efforts in reconstituting the SADA board and commended government for resolving to address the development needs of the area” it said.

The communiqué also called for the creation of a platform for information dissemination for the rapid transformation of the SADA zone, adding that, there was a commitment to carry out participatory monitoring and evaluation of SADA programmes to ensure greater transparency and accountability.

The participants called for increased infrastructural development in the SADA zone and advocated for the passage of legislative instrument on the levy of non-petroleum imports for funding SADA,” the communiqué said.
