Contractors fail to provide evidence of 60% of work done for payments from Ghana First Company

Discontented contractors who postulated that Ghana First Company Limited has refused to pay them for 60% of work done have failed to show up when the company gave the leeway for those within the category to show up for their claims.

Reports emerged earlier this week that some contractors of the multinational company are aggrieved for not being paid for 60% of work done despite working within their specific requirements.

The company on Monday, in a press statement challenged all contractors claiming to have completed 60% of work to make available their documents and show evidence of completion to claim their payments.

“The management of the company hereby challenges any contractor working for the company who claims to have completed 60% of the required specifications and has a certificate to that effect, signed by the CEO of the company, to submit its certificate at the head office of the company for inspection, verification and due payment within five days from the release of this document,” the statement postulated on Monday.

But the five-day ultimatum given by the company has soon elapsed with no contractor showing up evidencing their inability to reach the 60% work completion quota.

The CEO of Ghana First Company Limited in an interview with also homeradioghana revealed that his outfit further opened more windows of opportunity for the contractors providing financial assistance for those who were unable to raise the funds to complete the work.

“We have a track record of financial assistance for contractors who solicit for it and we are currently supporting several contractors to that effect.

“However, that will not keep us away from respecting the contractual agreements we have with the contractors,” he said.

“If the contractors think they need the financial assistance, they should apply for it and they will be given instead of claiming they have not been paid for 60% of work done when in actual fact, they have not,” he added.

It is, however, shocking that despite their inability to show evidence of 60% work done to claim their payments, some of the contractors have targeted spreading falsehood about the company.
