'Corporate Ghana needs distinctive HR Practices'

Mrs Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Human Resource (HR) Practitioner of the Year at the just ended HR Focus Awards, has called on fellow practitioners in corporate Ghana to align with international best practices.

She has also advised practitioners to continuously improve their HR programmes and systems.

Mrs Agyenim-Boateng, who heads Vodafone Ghana’s Human Resource department, made the statement at this year’s HR Focus Awards aimed at rewarding distinguished HR personalities and organizations across the country.

Vodafone swept three prominent awards at the conference iHR Practitioner of the Year 2015, Best Organization in Employee Relations and Employer of choice.

Mrs Agyenim-Boateng highlighted employees and business knowledge as the greatest assets of any company across the globe.

“Organisations that continuously adopt best HR practices tend to realise greater long-term benefits. Globally, companies are now focused on developing home-grown talent through constant upgrading of employees skills and empowerment to win the competitive battle,” she said.

She expressed her appreciation for the awards, and urged other HR practitioners and companies to strive towards inculcating the best people-practice and culture in their respective workplaces.

She said as a result of good HR practice, Vodafone Ghana continues to attract top talents to its corporate brand and it was no wonder that it was recognised as the Employer of Choice.
