Bomso (Ash), Nov 15, GNA - The Saint Peter's Credit Union in Kumasi has launched a housing project to aid contributors to own decent accommodation. It has acquired a total of 100 building plots at Bomso near Nkukua-Buoho in the Afigya-Kwabre for the purpose. Dr Anthony Edusei, President of the Union, at a ceremony to mark official commencement of construction works on the houses, said this was a fulfilment of their goal of improving the quality of life of members. The project, he said, represents a new approach to provide the opportunity for all those doing business with the Union to acquire houses. Over the years, it has supported contributors to grow and expand their businesses and take care of children's education among other things. The Very Reverend Monsignor Douglas Peters, Vicar General of the Kumasi Metropolitan Catholic Archdiocese, praised the Union for the initiative. He said he was also happy that the chiefs and people of Bomso readily gave out the land for the project.

He said he was confident that all the parties would continue to work together and with understanding to ensure smooth implementation of the project. Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, Omanhene of Kenyase Number-One, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said it was important traditional leaders made land easily available for such laudable projects. He suggested the Union to see to it that the needed social infrastructure is in place.

Mr Owusu Mensah, District Town and Country Director, on behalf of the District Chief Executive, (DCE) pledged the assembly's support for the success of the project. Nana Osei Yaw Akoto, Sasahene, said the community was building a classroom block for the local Junior High School from its share of stool lands revenue. He appealed for support to enable the project to be completed on time. 15 Nov. 10
