Director of Communications for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has clarified the promise made by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party to establish a credit facility for citizens to buy smartphones and pay in monthly installments of GH¢1 and GH¢2.
The promise by Dr. Bawumia seems to have ruffled feathers and ignited intense debates, especially among the youth population.
Dennis Aboagye, in his clarification on Atinka FM, indicated that the credit facility for smartphone purchases is seemingly a traditional practice in advanced countries.
He stated that some of the telecommunication companies in Ghana are already using the policy to encourage their customers to use smartphones since it inures to the benefit of the Telcos.
“It’s a way the smartphone companies encourage their customers to patronize their products. It’s nothing new, and it’s highly possible. Don’t be deceived by the NDC’s propaganda. Dr. Bawumia is determined to implement this policy,” he opined.
