Dalex schools entrepreneurs on innovation

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson has advised budding entrepreneurs to continuosly innovate in order to survive the turbulent business environment.

“Once business owners start breaking through on various fronts, they forget to innovate in order to add value to their businesses. This often leads to a rapid decline in their bottom-line and a subsequent collapse, or they become a pale shadow of their previous success,” Mr. Jackson said at the first CEO Business Summit in Accra organised by EDEL Technology Consulting.

He encouraged business owners and managers to focus more on areas where innovation can help them to gain a competitive edge to stay relevant, adding: “in the process of innovation, failures might occur but that should not deter any CEO from encouraging innovation. If you do it well and consistently; innovation as a sequential process would deliver precise results.”

The event which engaged varied entrepreneurs and top business executives offered solutions and lessons on how start-ups and entrepreneurs could avoid pitfalls in building up their businesses.

Other speakers at the summit included Selasi Adzo Nukpe, Acting Head for International Trade, British High Commission;Todd Holcombe, Senior Faculty at Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology; Melissa Nsiah of Stanford Institute of Innovation in Developing Economies; and Jemila Abdulai, Creative Director & Founder of Circumspecte.

Todd Holcombe, who has expertise in grooming entrepreneurs,admonished start-ups and businesses to create a conducive environment in their companies that encourages idea sharing among staff and an entrepreneurial spirit.

In his opinion, it is in such environment that staff readily give off their best to help the company to grow and succeed.

Ethel Cofie, founder and Chief Executive Officer of EDEL Technology Consulting said it was important successful entrepreneurs and experts shared knowledge to help upcoming businesses in the country to grow.

She said the summit will become a regular feature because it is only in such gatherings that business owners are able to network, share ideas and leverage on each other to improve their companies.
