Dallas Roadway Products, Inc.(DRP) an international company with sales, distribution and operations in the USA, Mexico, the Carribean, Europe, China, Vietnam, is to launch a new road construction technology in Ghana.

DRP was founded by Miss Camille E. Oulai, President/CEO, to assist developing countries with infrastructure development by providing longer lasting roads at a fraction of the cost. By using DRP chemicals, road is prepared at low cost with superior technology.

The national launch of Dallas Roadway construction road materials and chemicals might take place in this month.

DRP sources say the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) is currently testing samples of DRP chemicals, following interest expressed by the government in DRP chemicals for road construction.

Chronicle gathered that President Kufuor is said to have met representatives of DRP to deliberate on the possibility of the government adopting the technology during his recent visit to New York.

A. Kanin Construction, a Kumasi based road construction firm, is currently using DRP chemicals, which is cost and time saving, to tar a three mile stretch of road on a pilot scheme basis.

The Chronicle is informed that DRP intends to build a plant in Senegal to produce products locally, instead of importing them from New York.

DRP's chemical roadbase stabilizer system has been tested by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) to determine the effects of DRP on heaving and swelling soils.

A research presented to the Transportation Research Board by UTA indicates that DRP's chemical stabilizer reduces heaving and swelling by over 55 per cent.

DRP, according to a company profile, has been awarded a General Services Administration contract to supply soil stabilizer system to 1,700 federal agencies, including US Department of Transportation, US National Forest Service, US Park Service, US Department of Interior and US Department of Defence.

The DRP provides professional engineering and construction support for projects using their products. It also has a construction Support Division with road builders of 37 years experience available to all DRP clients.

The first road surface application of DRP products was in April 1992 in Waco, Texas with the international application in Mexico in February 1994.

Thousands of dual lane roadways have been installed using DRP products since 1991.

More than 5,000 miles of road construction in USA, Mexico, Taiwan, China, Vietnam and Europe have utilized DRP road stabilization and dust control products, a company profile prepared for Ghana has stated.
